OCTOPUZ Product Update: April 2026 release

By James Schnarr, Senior Product Manager

The April 2026 OCTOPUZ® release introduces a new, focused workflow for weld planning and sequence design, alongside a broad set of enhancements to existing features.

By streamlining weld planning and refining core workflows, this release improves efficiency while strengthening and expanding the tools users rely on for robot programming.

Weld planning & sequencing workflow

Create and manage weld instructions and sequences within a unified workflow. Weld parts are planned once and can be instantly converted into a fully executable robot program or used as weld sequence instructions for manual weld operators with the new OCTOPUZ® Steps app.

This approach unifies weld identification, sequencing, and planning for both robotic and manual welding, while enabling flexible deployment across different work cells.

More improvements

  • New Optimize “Externals” strategies: Using Optimize, using Optimize, users can pre-arrange program statements to minimize external motion (either Part Positioner or Robot Positioner) from the home location before applying the primary sequencing strategy.
  • CAD selection for mechanism: When creating a mechanism, define joint CAD directly from a component in the 3D world.
  • Undo and redo support for merge and explode: Undo and redo are now possible after merging or exploding CAD components.
  • New “Path Position” options: Adjust path offsets using new “Perpendicular Offset” and “Profile Offset” settings.
  • Static component re-merge: Re-merge exploded child bodies back into the original parent component while preserving the origin location.
  • Transform statement selection: Select or unselect potential statements to be transformed.
  • Path “Points” method orientation: Change selection orientation when creating paths using the Points method.
  • Calibrate Component “Priority”: Choose whether component calibration prioritizes minimizing variance or error.
  • More: Plenty of other performance and UI/UX improvements, plus a number of bug fixes.
